Without the electoral college the population centers (places like California and New York) would run roughshod over the views of the rest of the country. We can't have 2 or 3 cities making the decisions for the entire country, it's entirely too large and too diverse for that. And the college votes based on the popular vote in their state so it does reflect the views of the people, just more balanced.

I noticed during the silver screen section you mention the Spielberg movie. However you fail to mention anything about the 2012 film " Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter". I know it sounds crazy but check it out and see if you think it has some merrit. Thanks Troy
